Cubs News

Everyone at Cubs hope you had a great half term! This month, we have been working towards the 'Local Knowledge Badge', which involved a walk around Ashton Keynes to look and find interesting parts of the village.

We also Nave an exciting trip to Swindon's bowling venue, where we look forward to some healthy competitive spirit. We are planning to have an investiture ceremony this month as well.

Scouts News

Scouts have been continuing to work on our basic camping skills. We've cooked a series of tasty treats on open fires, that we have lit by rubbing two sticks together. We've learnt how build a fire that will light easily and stay lit, and we've built gadgets to boil kettles and cook soups and stews. We're building up young people to survive, if not thrive, without modern conveniences that maybe found in a modern kitchen or glamping setup, should they by accident or on purpose find themselves in such a situation. The knots and pioneering skills, basic cooking skills and other outdoor knowledge are being pulled together and applied, and it is lots of fun.

We'll be rounding this month off with a quiz night and beginning next term with an opportunity to show off their hobbies - sport, music or anything else and hopefully achieve some badges.
